The Government of Papua New Guinea, in partnership with the Asia Pacific Leaders Malaria Alliance, will host the 8th Asia Pacific Leaders’ Summit on Malaria Elimination on June 6-7, 2024 at Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

This high-level event is a convening of Ministers, Senior Government Officials, local, national, and global leaders united under the theme ‘invest to achieve zero malaria.’ Occurring for the first time in Melanesia, the Leaders’ Summit will, over the course of two days, focus on sustaining financing, engaging communities, and committing to the 2030 elimination goal. The first day will focus on high-level political commitments to malaria elimination followed by a second day of partner meetings and technical discussions.

The 8th Asia Pacific Leaders’ Summit on Malaria Elimination is a regional event hosted by the Government of Papua New Guinea in partnership with the Asia Pacific Leaders Malaria Alliance on June 6-7, 2024 at the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Aligned with Papua New Guinea’s Vision 2050 and the National Health Plan 2021-2030 theme, 'Leaving no-one behind is everybody’s business,' this high-level forum aims to bring together Heads of State, Health Ministers from Papua New Guinea and Melanesia, global partners, private sector representatives, and local leaders.

The Government of Papua New Guinea and the APLMA Secretariat will send invitations to selected participants. If you have not received an invitation, please email us at malarialeaders@aplma.org for more information. This event is in-person only with no hybrid or virtual option.

What is the cost of attending the event?

The Leaders’ Summit will be held at the Hilton Hotel, Wards Road, Hohola, Port Moresby, 121, Papua New Guinea. APLMA will sponsor selected in-person participants. Other participants (by invitation only) may have to cover their own travel and personal expenses.

Will there be photography or video at the event?

Photographs, audio, and video recordings will be captured during the event. APLMA retains the right to utilize and distribute all materials from the event with partners, media outlets, and its digital platforms. Participants will also have a designated area to take their own photos.
